About me


After gaining over 30 years experience in employment, working in administration, early in 2019 I decided it was time for make a career change.  So in June 2019 I left the company that I had worked at for 24 years.  Having recharged my batteries by taking a short break, I worked out what I want to achieve going forward.

The more I’d thought about it the more I realised that I couldn’t turn away from my years of experience in many areas of administration, as this is my USP, but I could change the way I worked. So I created Raspberry VA.

Let me tell you a little bit more about me;  I have worked as a senior administrator for an Export/Import company in the food industry for many years.  I was involved in all areas of administration, including sales/purchase administration, export documention and stock control as well as budgeting and forecasting and implementation of software packages. Also, during my final year, I was also involved in Brexit planning.

I have a good understanding of all areas of Microsoft Office and have used excel extensively in my previous roles.  Prior to this I started out as a Medical Secretary, arriving in the food industry via an engineering company in sales administration.

At the same time as working full time I have supported several small businesses run by my family, in an administrative capacity, as well as selling face to face at events. This included setting up several websites, including 2 eCommerce websites using various software such as Shopify, together with Facebook and Instagram pages. This has given me a good understanding of the requirements, both legal and practical, of running a small business.

Since starting Raspberry VA I found that many businesses were looking for help with their bookkeeping.  I have worked on various bookkeeping software packages, including Xero, Zoho, Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics and FreeAgent.   I have also used CRM packages including Zoho CRM and Capsule so can advise on how to control your customer records and help you decide which bookkeeping package is best for you if you do not already subscribe to one.

One of the things small businesses do not always realise is that if you employ a VA to carry out your bookkeeping work, including any invoicing, it is your responsibility to ensure that they are either registered with HMRC for Anti money laundering supervision or belong to a bookkeeping/accountancy association which provides the same supervision.  I am registered with HMRC for this supervision. 

I can work on my own or as part of a team and particularly enjoy problem solving, data analysis and creating/working on excel spreadsheets.  I am able to work with people at all levels both remotely or face to face.

I would love to help SMEs, by giving business owners the time to concentrate on growing their businesses without having to worry about their administration.
